Almaden Valley Nursery selects fruit tree varieties which perform well in our particular climate. These varieties produce nice yields, and offer good disease resistance with a minimum of care. When possible, all of our trees are grafted on semi-dwarf rootstock which helps to produce crops at an earlier age. They also provide a tree size that is not excessive for today's backyards. All of our listings provide for tree size, although every variety we stock may be kept as low as 6-8 ft. with Backyard Orchard Culture pruning techniques.

Each year our staff participates in fruit taste tests, in order to provide our customers not only the best tasting, but also the latest varieties on the market. We grade the fruit not only in appearance, but in firmness when ripe, sugar content, acidity, texture, and overall flavor. We feel this process of evaluation produces a selection of trees that will make our customers happy.
